$50 FACE (1,000 COINS) CIRCULATED WAR NICKELS 35% SILVER (1942-1945)

Due to shortage of nickel during wartime, these 35% Silver nickels were made from 1942 to 1945 as an emergency measure.  Jefferson's bust appears on the obverse, and  his house Monticello ia featured on the reverse with a large mint mark P for for Philadelphia which appeared for the first time on a US coin.
